The Kansas City Star carried an Associated Press story on April 13, 2010, about some Oklahoma Tea Party leaders and some state legislators who want to create a new volunteer militia to help defend against what they think are improper federal infringements on state sovereignty. According to the article, the Tea Party leaders say the volunteer unit would not resemble militia groups that have been raided for allegedly plotting to attack law enforcement officers. J.W. Berry of the Tulsa-based OKforTea who solicited interest in a new state militia through his newsletter is quoted in the article as saying, "It's not a far-right crazy plan or anything like that. This would be done with the full cooperation of the state Legislature."
All I can say is: Really. What type of legislature would approve such a plan except one that has a majority of far-right crazies?
