Hillary's Code Word

I'm dense when it comes to deciphering what politicians mean by using certain words or phrases over and over again in their speeches to appeal to supporters. I finally figured out what Hillary Clinton means when she says that she is 'more electable' than Barack Obama. It took a phone conversation with a friend who lives on the fringe of the Wichita metro area to open my eyes. He told me how he overheard some good ole red-neck boys talking in a store about how they would never, absolutely never, vote for an African-American, although the latter term wasn't the appellation they used. What Hillary means by 'more electable' is that she's white. But, the racists don't really need to be told that, since it's pretty obvious. So, why the need for a code word. The code word is still necessary, because it fits with Hillary's practice of trying to be like her audience by accent, by life experience, or vicariously by feigned or real friendship. It also encourages the racists to hold fast to their determination not to vote for a black man whoever he might be.

I think I'll try to figure out what other code words are embedded in her speeches. Wait! Is this necessary? Hasn't Barry (the more anglo version of his name) won the Democrat's nomination, which should mean Hillary's speeches are over and, thus, also her need for code words? Hey, I think I just figured out one of Obama's code words. When he lavishes praise on Hillary's campaign effort in the past tense, he is saying, "Lady, it's over. Shut up and sit down." That's a thought so foreign to Hillary's mind-set that I bet she won't decipher the code until the convention is past and she's not even the VP candidate. I hope that her intractable persistence in the campaign, even after Obama has clinched the nomination, has cost her being the VP candidate. Why? The VP must take a background role and not interfere. I don't think she could do it.

Tough Talk

On Saturday, May 24th, a letter to the Kansas City Star editor by Marcia Leibold stated, "I'm calling on all Hillary supporters to let the Democratic party know how we feel by voting for John McCain if Hillary is not the nominee." On CNN Friday, a female representative of women for Hillary said much the same thing. If you support Hillary, do you agree with this statement? If you agree with Marcia, please send the message to the Democrats by voting for McCain and, should McCain be elected President, please wear a large button that reads, "I Voted For McCain" over your wounded heart for the next four years. That's the way to take responsibility for your behavior. If you don't agree with doing what Marcia asks of you, you need do nothing except vote for the candidate of your choice, which is the responsible thing to do and requires no further action on your part.
